Free for all Navajo Nation residents and employees within the Navajo Nation
There are several ways of getting a library card from the Navajo Nation Library!
Register from home:
- You can fill out this Library Card application (PDF) and mail it to the library, or email it to us.

Come to the Library:
- You can fill out this Library Card application (PDF) and bring your ID (driver’s license, state ID, tribal card) and current mailing address
- Or you fill out an application here at the library too, please do bring your supporting documents too.
Library card requirements:
- Fill out Membership application card (please come to the library and fill-out an application)
- Membership cards are free of charge.
- Replacement Cards- $1.00.
- Your current mailing address must be verified by a driver’s license or a picture ID card and postmarked mail with your name and post office box number within the last 30 days.
- We DO NOT accept General Delivery addresses.
- Youth, twelve (12) years of age and younger must have their parent or guardian sign their membership application form and Computer Contract Form. Parents also have to sit with their child at the computer at all times.
- The library user is responsible for all materials charged to their name (or child’s name, in the case of a parent), and must pay replacement costs for any items which are lost or irreparably damaged.
- Lost or stolen card should be reported to library staff immediately.
When you’re ready to checkout:
- You are required to present your library card in order to check out materials.
- MAXIMUM limit = Five (5) – all books, videos and dvd’s.
- The loan period is two (2) weeks
- Books may be renewed only one time. Renewals by phone are acceptable.
- Teachers on the Navajo Nation may check out 10 books for two weeks.
- Native American collection. ONLY one (1) book to be checked out per visit, per library user.
